Welcoming the sommer season of traditional making + Summer Offerings from the farm!

Greetings from the farm, June - the month we officially welcome sommer, and another new season of making in fellowship within our Traditional Guild - remotely and locally! In addition to our old farm wheel calendar and seasonal making activities - this month I will be facilitating two traditional summer garment courses. The intermediate course will take us to the historic region of Telemark and the more advanced garment is a beautiful celebration and traditional reflection of this season! We will be elevating the techniques within both of these modern garment restorations, to an heirloom quality and finish. On sommer mornings at our local Bygdemuseum, and remotely within the guild - I will be facilitating another traditional, folk art, hand work craft, directly connected to the 200 year anniversary and celebration of Norwegian immigration to America. During midtsommer - we return to the village of Selbu - to revise our study of Selbuvotter, Selbu "style" votter and extend our traditional techniques into an in depth historic study of Selbuvanter. We will also be continuing on to finish up our current historic study of traditional Norwegian folk socks and the in depth exploration of the flamming technique - which creates the oldest known and documented form of elastic found within Norway. This elastic, still used today, was the solution before traditional socks had ribbing! For those of you that have finished the basic Norwegian stranded knitting course or have shown interest, being placed on the waiting list to join the Traditional Guild offering. Registration for this season of making will be open for a short window of time between Saturday, June 1st through Monday, June 3rd. If you are interested in Traditional Norwegian Folk Art Handiwork and Traditional Norwegian Stranded knitting, from a historic perspective - specifically from the Trøndelag (Selbu) region of Norway, you are very welcome to join our traditional guild community. With interest - Please contact directly via email - which will be forwarded to me. knitography AT gmail DOT com I will get back to you to support you with registration and help settle you into our community. Velkommen skal du være! og God sommer! Warmest regards from the farm, Patricia x
